Stillwater Stables believes that no matter the age a child/teen can be an example and make a difference in the world around him or her. It is never to early to begin learning the skills of leadership that can be applied in their everyday life. The skills can help a child/ teen build confidence in who they are to enable them to stand up to something they know is wrong and also give them the opportunities to lead and make a difference in another person's life.

 

What is the Leadership Program? It is available for teens who would like to learn leadership skills, to make a difference in those around, take on responsibility, and to have opportunities to be a leader at Stillwater Stables. In the leadership program students will be able to learn and practice in more detail how to care for and train our lesson horses. It is an opportunity to learn to serve and be a friend to those in their peer groups and to be a mentor to those that are younger.  It is for teens who have benefited in some way from working with horses and being a part of our program and is excited to help others experience that. They are willing to assist in anyway they can to ensure a safe, clean,  and fun learning environment as well as a quality educational program.

                               Qualifications to be in the Leadership Program:

• 12 yrs or older
• Riding at Stillwater Stables at least 6 months and currently taking lessons at Stillwater Stables
• Flexible schedule
• A love for horses and animals
• Some experience working with children (such as babysitting)
• Follows directions well
• Reliable
• Hard worker
• Responsible
• Believe in the mission statement and purpose 
• Gets along well with others
• Honest and trustworthy
• Desires to be a role model
  
• Completed through the entire green series.
